While browsing at the offerings from Indygo Junction the other day I came across this bag that looked almost woven:
I thought it would be a neat class for me to teach at the shop, something I haven't done in a while. The patterns arrived this week and yesterday I went to ponder the great question of what to make it with. In a rare moment of prescience I felt that I needed to make two, to learn the technique better and offer visual options to a wider range of sewists. I went for bright Kaffe Fasset for the summer and a green, beige and red conservative Civil War medley.
I worked on the first one this afternoon and learned so much as I went my head should explode anytime now. This is only the outside, as it is a lined bag and there is much to do with the lining and handles. So far though it's one of the most fun/addictive thing I have worked on in years, yes years. I will get better with time and make a all lot of those I know it.
Isn't the inside gorgeous!, I feel like petting it...

Gorgeous! My friend Sylvia likes to make these and has taught several classes on them. They are so beautiful and sturdy too! Can't wait to see your finished product. Did I hear right that Elaine's has a new owner?

Thank you Cheryl! I am a little stunned myself at how fun this was to make so far.
